Hello beloved.

Leading up to Mother's Day, I shared a series called Mothering While Black.

One of my favorite singers is a woman from North Carolina who specializes in songs that bring slave narratives to life.  

Her name is Rhiannon Giddens.

One of my favorite songs of hers is about an actual slave for sale advertisement she discovered.  

It discloses that the slave being sold has a 9-month-old baby.

Then it mentions that buying the baby is "at the purchaser's option".
