The Oscars are tonight.
When I think of the Oscars, I think of Viola Davis.
Besides being one of my favorite actresses, Viola and I are kindred spirits.
You’re probably thinking, “Hmmm... how do you
know that?
I know it because of what she said in her acceptance speech after winning an Oscar for Fences... which was written by August Wilson.
You can watch it below, but in it she says she loves being an artist because they exhume the bodies of our ancestors and exalt them by telling their stories.
Ooooh, that still gives me chills.
Because that’s what we do in Black Folks Magic Culture Classes.
We exhume the bodies of our ancestors and tell their stories.
And, let me tell you… they are soooo good.
We’ll be exhuming another one in our March class, which is this coming Saturday, March
18 at 8:00 PM Eastern.
She's the most amazing black woman you’ve never heard of.
So, join us Saturday in saying her name and learning from her life.
The class link is below Viola’s powerful acceptance speech.
A challenge. Watch what Viola says and see if you don’t get “shivers in your liver”.
Ya mon... shivers!
See you Saturday.
