Hi ...
Come with me if you want to live!
That famous line is from The Terminator… a movie about a cyborg from the future
who was sent back in time to kill a woman named Sarah Conner.
To refresh your memory, while waiting for the police in a nightclub... Sarah is attacked by the murderous, merciless Terminator.
After stopping it temporarily, Kyle Reese… also sent from the future to protect Sarah… says “Come with me if you want to live.”
Now that’s drama!
But what does The Terminator have to do with Black culture?
As it turns out, a lot.
African Americans live shorter lives than any other ethnic group on the planet.
And it’s not because we’re Black.
Our lives are also shorter than Blacks who live in Africa.
In fact, their mortality rates are the same as whites in the U.S.
So, why is this happening? What
in the dickens is going on?
Health care?
No.
Diet?
No.
Exercise?
Heck to the no.
Then what is it?
It has to do with the 400 years of trauma we suffered.
How to counteract this trauma is what we’ve been discussing in Black Folks Magic Culture Class.
Frederick Douglass said
this...
“There was no balm in Gilead for the slave. So, we had to make our own.”
In the last few classes, we’ve
been discussing the recipe for making our own balm.
In other words... how to survive, thrive and extend our lives.
We’ll be talking about the third ingredient on the FOURTH Saturday of this month... which is April 22nd.
What you learn could save your life… or the life of someone you care about.
Think I'm being melodramatic?
I just lost two people close to me within 3 days. One was 64... and the other was 35.
So trust me, I am very serious when I say...
Come with me if you want to live.
