Today we honor a person who exemplifies the principle of Umoja.
Her name is Tomeeka Collins.
Tomeeka is the CEO of Collins Adult Residential Care Agency.
They are a community-based organization that provides services for
individuals with intellectual and development disabilities.
Tomeeka also employs and mentors young adults and seniors who want to serve as advocates for this sector of our community.
Her passion for helping others reach their full potential is unmatched. She’s both tireless and selfless in the pursuit of helping adults with disabilities live productive and independent lives.
Her motto is, “We must pour LOVE into a warm heart”.
Because of her dedication, and the example she sets for the community, Donna
and Robert Wright gifted her with a He Ain’t Heavy” sculpture. (See pics below.)
It’s the perfect
gift to bless someone who is always reaching down to give someone a hand up.
As Martin Luther King aptly said,
Anyone can become great because anyone can serve. Life’s most persistent and urgent question is… what are you doing for others?
