Africa? No Way!
Â
Once, while having a conversation about taking a trip to Africa, a friend of mine
said âAfrica? I donât want to go there! I didnât leave anything in Africa!âÂ
Â
That comment really alarmed me.Â
But it didnât surprise me. I didnât say anything, but my thought at the time was, âWOW, how sad it is when someone doesnât appreciate their ancestry.â
Â
Over the years, and because of the turmoil that exists in America, Iâve always embraced what
Maya Angelou once said. âYou canât really know where you are going until you know where you have been.â
Â
This is why I love attending the Black Folks Magic Cultural Master Class each month. I enjoy listening to Brian Johnson as he
poignantly narrates unknown and forgotten history lessons. He presents Black History and our amazing story in a manner that I have never heard before. It has a significant impact on hearts and minds, because âknowledge is powerâ.
Â
Each time that Iâve attended, Iâve learned something new about myself and the souls of Black Folk, especially here in America. Afterwards, I love being able to engage in interesting conversations with other attendees. I also feel blessed to be a point of light as I share what Iâve learned with family, friends, and
acquaintances.
Â
Finally, I like that any attendee can invite their likeminded friends to join the conversation. It reminds me of the African proverb that says, âIf you want to go fast, go alone⌠but if you want to go far, take someone with you.â The more we come together, the more collective light we can shine.
Â
So, I encourage you to join our next Cultural Master Class on Saturday, September 17 at 7:00 PM Eastern⌠and invite a friend or family member to join you. Come see what the fuss is
all about. Youâll be glad you did.
