Happy New Year and welcome to
2022.
Back in 1859, Charles Dickens wrote a passage about the French Revolution that now seems prophetic.
It was the best of times.
It was the worst of times.
It was the age of wisdom.
It was the age of foolishness.
It was the epoch of belief.
It was the epoch of incredulity.
It was the season of Light.
It was the season of Darkness.
It was the spring of hope.
It was the winter of despair.
We had everything before
us.
We had nothing before
us.
We were all going direct to
heaven.
We were all going direct... the other
way.
Wow! Those words could have been written

There's a lot of uncertainty in the world right now.
The pandemic has already claimed 820,000 American lives. It's still lingering, and Lord knows when it will be over for good.
Hard as it is to believe, members of our government tried to undo an election, and are now attempting to undo our democracy through gerrymandering.
Many people won't even wear a mask for the common good.
And horrific gun violence continues at alarming levels.
On the other hand, African Americans are reaching unprecedented heights.
