Deanna Alexander's cousin, Sage Chioma, has released a series of special Kwanzaa presentations through the International Civil Rights Center and
Museum.
Each principle has a different guest speaker who explains and elaborates on what it means.
Day 1: Umoja by Bree Newsome-Bass, Filmmaker/Activist
Day 2: Kujichagulia by Elder Cassandra Lowe Williams
Day 3: Ujima by Joyce Johnson
Day 4: Ujamaa by Rev. Odell Cleveland
Day 5: Nia by Pastor Keishawn Niblett
Day 6: Kuumba by Fred Motley, Storyteller
Day 7: Imani by Pastor Otis W. Wiley Sr.
Because it's a cultural celebration, and not a religious celebration, Kwanzaa is still somewhat of a mystery to many African
Americans.
So, in addition to watching each day's presentation yourself, you may have friends and family that may want to learn more about Kwanzaa as well. If so, feel free to
share.
The link below will take you to a webpage that has links to the speakers for each of the seven principles.
Enjoy,
Brian
